Trekking through Aigüestortes National Park

The proposed itinerary goes through the Pyrenees’ heart, in the middle of an impressive topography. In there, we can find a brilliant example of High Mountain, the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.

It is an awesome geological exemplification and a true water paradise: more than 200 ponds and uncountable streams and springs fill the territory.

It is located in the most north-western corner of Catalonia, in the axial area of the Pyrenees, and it is divided into the jurisdictional areas of Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, Pallars Jussà and Vall d’Aran. These areas themselves constitute a beautiful combination of valleys, mountains, ponds, forests and meadows.

It is the only natural area in Catalonia which holds the protection title of “National Park”
