Adventure Hiking 4 days Collsacabra - Puigsacalm, Garrotxa

The route we will take passes through the most beautiful part of Collsacabra and Puigsacalm. It is an area rich in vegetation due to the rains that are very abundant. We will find beeches, oaks and plants typical of this area. The views we will have throughout the route looking north will be the whole Pyrenees with the Canigó and Costabona as the most visible peaks and the Alta Garrtoxa area with its steep limestone walls. We will also have sea views from many points you can see the golf of Roses (Costabrava), it is a very complete and beautiful trip!

We will do Hiking, easy Via Ferrata, Horseback Riding and finally the Abseiling of a Waterfall of 100 meters high.

Day 1  Cantonigros – Joanetes

• Distance: 15’5 Km.
• Positive difference in level: 900 m.
• Negative difference in level: 1360 m.
• Hours: 6 hours.

We will start in the beautiful village of Cantonigros, more specifically in the farmhouse of Aiats. The route ascends to the cliff of Aiats where from here we will look for the Sanctuary of Cabrera. The positive difference ends in Cabrera and now we only have to go down to Joanetes. On the way to our destination we will pass by the small village of Falgars d’en Bas which has spectacular views over the Vall d’en Bas and the Pyrenees! We will also arrive at the hermitage of Sant Miquel de Castelló and from here we have the last kilometers to Joanetes in the rural house of Ferrés where we can relax.

Day 2 Joanetes – Platraver

• Distance: 9.5 Km.
• Positive difference in level: 1140 m.
• Negative difference in level: 408 m.
• Hours: 6 hours.

It starts the most beautiful day but harder in terms of the positive difference we have to make. We will leave Joanetes towards the Puigsacalm where we will go up a very easy Via Ferrada called Els Ganxos Nous where we gain altitude very quickly and where we will reach the plain of Santa Magdalena an ideal place to rest. From here we will go up to the Puig dels Llops and right next to it we have the 2nd highest peak of La Garrotxa el Puigsacalm. From now on, all you have to do is go down to Platraver, the area where we will spend the next two nights. It is an idyllic, quiet place with views of the whole garrotxa and also the golf of Roses (Costabrava).

Day 3 Rest day where we will do a route on horseback

This day is an active day of rest, in Platraver there are many horses where they practice horse riding. The route we have planned is to go to the Escletxes de la Freixeneda on horseback. The fissures are sedimentary rock formations (sandstones) where it has formed a labyrinth full of corridors and walls of up to 20 meters.

Day 4 Platraver - Sant Privat d’en Bas

• Distance: 6 km.
• Positive difference in level: 160 m.
• Negative difference in level: 845 m.
• Hours: 6 hours.

After a day of active rest, we only have the last day of return to the Vall d'en Bas but before that we will do an adventure activity such as abseiling the Salt de la Capa, a waterfall of water where to lower it we will make two rappels of 50 meters. After this descent we will have to observe one of the most beautiful places of Catalonia which is the Salt de Sallent, a waterfall 140 meters high. Once in Sant Privat, a taxi will be waiting to take us to lunch at one of the restaurants in the Vall d’en Bas to try its volcanic cuisine.
