The orienteering race for schools or orienteering circuit is a fun and sportive activity but at the same time, an educational activity for school groups. Also perfect for team work. Very enriching activity in a natural environment and perfect for learning to orient ourselves in the mountains using a map and a compass.
The aim of an orienteering race is to find the maximum number of correct orientation beacon in the shortest possible time.
Welcome to the group. Briefing of the activity and division of the group into teams. Once we have the groups, there will be an explanation of how the orienteering race works and we will learn how to read a map and use a compass, material necessary to carry out the orienteering course.
The orienteering race begins.
Departures are staggered and each time a team goes out, they are given a map and compass. Each team will have a map with different points marked on the map. Once you reach each point marked on the map, you will find a orientation beacon. There are trap orientation beacon, so you have to pay attention to which orientation beacon is marked on your map. These orientation beacon carry a staple that will have to be marked on the map, so that we can check that the correct orientation beacon has been found.
The team that correctly finds the largest number of orientation beacon and does so in the shortest time wins.
The route is about 6-7 km and quite flat all the time. Therefore, between the briefing and the circuit is about 3 hours. Even so, we can adapt it depending on the time you have.
Preferably, at the Hostalets d'en Bas, in la Garrotxa, where we set up a very beautiful circuit between rivers, fountains (water springs) and lots of nature, in a picture-postcard town.
But we also have other circuits such as the orienteering race in Sant Privat d'en Bas or the orienteering race between volcanoes, which we also do in Garrotxa and which are also really nice.
However, since the circuits are mobile, we can make new circuits in another places, just ask if it's possible.
Hiking boots or sportive trainers, comfortable clothes, backpack with water and something to snack on (fruit, nuts, energy bars,...).
Ideal autumn, winter and spring. But it can also be done in the summer. It is an ideal activity for the whole year.
